Both keys for my 1997 E220 CONVERTIBLE WONT OPEN THE DOORS. New batteries have been inserted, but nothing.I locked the car this morning with the key which contains the alarm mechanism, but when I went to open later, I couldn''t.I have unlocked the car with the key manually, but dont know if I can open the doors and start it - will the alarm go off ?

Hi Dave, I think I can help but need just a little more information. First I need you to unlock the car with the key and try to start it. If it starts, then I need to know (with ignition off, car locked with key) what lights are lit in the windshield side of the rear view mirror and if they are blinking. Then point a remote at the rear view mirror and press the button. And again tell me what the lights do. The alarm shouldn't go off when you unlock the doors, if it does I need to know that too.
